Mill City Farmers Market Day One Report
Saturday, May 9th, 2009The turnout at the market was absolutely fabulous! It was much more crowded than I remember it being a year ago at this time. This despite the chilly weather and high winds that took over a couple EZ Up Tents. I picked up 4 heirloom tomato plants, thyme, and basil. Karen and I were VERY disappointed to learn that the Chef Shack isn’t selling their gourmet cheese curds anymore, but we survived with their delicious pulled pork nachos (with avacado, fresh salsa, some cheese . . . yum). And my goat cheese omelete was delicious.
So, we ate well (Sorry, Brent!), sold some baskets, listened to music, and tried to stay warm. Every time the visiting rooster crowed I thought my phone was ringing because my ringtone is currently set on “ROOSTER”. There were 2 reports of someone carrying a live chicken around the market in a JB Market Basket. Ella and her friend, Eva, decorated pots and planted a pansy in each for mother’s day. Overall, it was a festive, vibrant day at the market!
Happy Earth Day - April 22, 2009
Tuesday, April 21st, 2009Tomorrow the baskets are arriving at our Minneapolis warehouse. I think it is very fitting that they are arriving on Earth Day! I will spend the day at the warehouse receiving, organizing, and helping get new orders shipped out. My family and I plan to celebrate Earth Day this weekend by picking up litter around a lake in South Minneapolis. Probably Lake Harriet because that is where Ella (my daughter) and I went a couple years ago and it was actually very fun!

Friday, April 17th, 2009Here are the details:
Hats Off Luncheon
Friday, May 8, 2009
Each year the Suite Dreams Project gathers with friends in the spring for its annual Hat’s Off Lunch
The 9th Annual Hats Off Luncheon will be held on Friday, May 8th, 2009.
The mission of the Suite Dreams Project is to bring comfort and joy to children affected by serious medical conditions by creating healing environments in their homes, in hospitals, and in our communities that improve their quality of life and speed recovery.
Because it sounds like such a fabulous event and cause, Jeanne Beatrice provided baskets at a reduced cost and picked up the cost of shipping (La Vie Large will be the centerpiece at each table). You can help too - go to the Hats Off Luncheon!
